FAQs

  • Yep, it’s a physical activity, so there’s some risk involved.

  • Our bouldering gyms are recommended for climbers ages 10 and up. For anyone under 14, an adult must be with them at all times.

  • For safety reasons Kid’s birthday parties are not permitted at UB and BB. However, we’re happy to point you to some other great local spots for kids’ activities:

    • Skateland Savoy

    • Elevate Trampoline Park

    • Dick’s House of Sport

    • Urbana Park District

    • Indoor Aquatic Center

    • Stephens Family YMCA

  • All you need is comfy clothing that lets you move (we recommend stretchy pants or gym gear) and a lot of energy. We’ve got climbing shoes ready to go, so no need to bring your own. See our First Visit page for more info.

  • Not at all! We’re a first-come, first-served kind of place, so just stop by during regular hours. If it’s your first visit, make sure to sign a waiver either online or at the gym before you climb.

  • That’s totally fine! Our walls are designed for climbers of all levels. You’ll get a quick orientation when you arrive, and our friendly staff will be here to help you get started. Take your time, have fun, and we’ll help you along the way!

  • Not really! We’ve got everything you need to climb: shoes, chalk, and water fountains to stay hydrated. If you have your own climbing shoes, feel free to bring them, but it’s not a must.

  • Nope! Bouldering is largely self-directed, so you don’t need a class to start climbing. We offer occasional “bouldering basics” courses, but you can always dive right in and start exploring. You’ve got this!
